"In eynem" Online: Unit 1 with Sonia Bloom

Unit 1: Sholem-aleykhem! with Sonia Bloom
No prerequisites. This level is designed for students with no prior knowledge of Yiddish.
Students should study the Yiddish alphabet prior to the course start date.
Course goals:
Meeting a new person; geography; activities during a typical day and a typical week; polite conversation; counting objects; buying items at a store
Grammar: Present tense verb conjugations, pronouns, word order
Culture: Folksongs, brief history of Yiddish
Course expectations:
- This course is designed for students with no prior Yiddish language experience.
- Students are expected to actively participate in all sixteen class sessions and spend 60-90 minutes on homework per class.
- Students must have a copy of In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook.
- Unit 1 students are expected to familiarize themselves with the Yiddish alphabet before the program begins.
- Students must have a Google account in order to use Google Classroom. Those without an existing Google account must create one.
- Students must have a computer with a camera and microphone, Internet access, headphones, and proficiency with Zoom.
Class dates:
Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays. Class is from 11am–12:30pm Eastern Time, with a short break in the middle.

$450 for members, $525 for nonmembers. The required textbook is sold separately at $100 in our online store.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations by October 21 will be refunded, minus a $30 administration fee. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds for cancellations after October 21.
