Who should take this course?
This level is designed for students with no prior knowledge of Yiddish. Students should study the Yiddish alphabet prior to the course start date. You can sign up for our optional alphabet course (January 8-10, from 6-7pm ET) below.

By the end of this class, you’ll be able to engage in conversations on the following topics:

• Meeting a new person
• Geography
• Describing activities during a typical day and a typical week
• Polite conversation
• Counting objects
• Buying items at a store

Grammar: Present tense verb conjugations, pronouns, word order
Culture: Folksongs, brief history of Yiddish
