Prerequisites:
Students will need to review Units 1 and 2 of In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook.
Course goals:
Asking and answering questions about your family; discussing professions; describing a person’s physical appearance; talking about activities you like and dislike
Grammar: Adjective endings; the accusative case; lib hobn (to like)
Culture: Folksongs, poems, film clips, archival images
- Students are expected to actively participate in all sixteen class sessions and spend 60-90 minutes on homework per class.
- Students must have a copy of In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook.
- Students in continuing levels are expected to review previous units of the textbook before class begins.
- Students must have a Google account in order to use Google Classroom. Those without an existing Google account must create one.
- Students must have a computer with a camera and microphone, Internet access, headphones, and proficiency with Zoom.
Class dates:
Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays. Class is from 6–7:30pm Eastern Time, with a short break in the middle.
Nov. 1, 3, 10, 13*, 15, 17, 22, 27*, 29
Dec. 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22
* Classes on November 8 (Election Day) and 24 (Thanksgiving) have been rescheduled to Sunday, November 13 and Sunday, November 27.
Cost: $450 for members, $525 for nonmembers. The required textbook is sold separately at $100 in our online store.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations by October 21 will be refunded, minus a $30 administration fee. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds for cancellations after October 21.
