Unit 1 Beginner: Fun onheyb (From the Beginning)

No prerequisites. This level is designed for students with no prior knowledge of Yiddish.
Topics covered:
Vocabulary: Greetings, introductions, geography, basic verbs, numbers, days of the week
Grammar: Present tense verb conjugations, pronouns, word order
Culture: Folksongs, brief history of Yiddish
Materials: Students will need to purchase a copy of In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook, availabile here.
Please remember that you will be expected to familiarize yourself with the Yiddish alphabet before the program begins.
