In the Shadow of the Holocaust: Short Fiction by Jewish Writers from the Soviet Union

Tuesdays, 7-8:30 p.m. ET, March 10, 17, 24, and 31

Join co-editors and co-translators Sasha Senderovich and Harriet Murav as they explore short stories from their newly translated anthology, In the Shadow of the Holocaust: Short Fiction by Jewish Writers from the Soviet Union. Written in both Yiddish and Russian, these stories represent authors from Ukrained, Lituania, Russia, and Belarus in the post-Holocaust Soviet Union. Together, we'll look at how writers from the USSR responded to the Holocaust and how they wrestled with questions of memory, mourning, and survival in a society that resisted open commemoration of Jewish suffering.

All readings are in English; no knowledge of Yiddish is required.

All sessions are held live via Zoom. Recordings will be available to all registrants.

Cost
$100 for members; $125 for nonmembers.
