“It’s Hard to be a Jew:” Using Yiddish Children’s Literature to Teach About Antisemitism
with Miriam Udel of Emory University

Yiddish children’s literature serves as a repository for how Ashkenazi Jewry has addressed its young for over a century. What resources are available in this corpus to guide a contemporary approach to helping “hayntike kinder,” today’s children, understand ill will and violence directed against the Jewish community, and to equip them with resilience to continue flourishing?
