Unique Opportunity for College Students "...a wonderful educational experience -- it really showed me the breadth of Yiddish culture, as well as its relevance and activity now." College students interested in learning about Yiddish language and culture still have time to apply for the 2012 Steiner Summer Program at the Yiddish Book Center. The acclaimed seven-week, tuition-free, 6-credit program offers 18 college students a unique educational experience in Yiddish language and culture. The goal of the program is to provide a new generation with Yiddish language literacy, substantive knowledge, and a deeper comprehension of the history, literature, and culture of Jews in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. Students gain an understanding of the wider constellation of Jewish cultural identity through exposure to the Center's work in the areas of preservation, research, translation, bibliography, and artistic expression. "To say this experience has been special would be an understatement... This has been one of the best experiences of my life on many levels and I am excited to see how it plays out in my future."
