A Chanukah Celebration for all ages Sunday, December 9th
The day’s events include The Magic Dreidel, a theatrical and musical presentation of the story of Chanukahby the nationally touring Grumbling Gryphons. Also featured are hands-on music, dance and art workshops prior to the performance.
Music & Art Workshop 12:30-1:30 Ages 3-7. Children will learn songs, simple dance steps, and will create Chanukah headbands. Children are invited to participate in the performance of The Magic Dreidel.
Drama Workshop Noon-1:30 Ages 8-adult. Participants will learn dramatic lines and choreography so they can perform in the Judah Maccabee and Antiochus scene in the afternoon performance of The Magic Dreidel.
The Magic Dreidel: A Chanukah Celebration for the Whole Family! 2PM Written and directed by the nationally touring Grumbling Gryphons’ artistic director Leslie Elias, The Magic Dreidel presents the story of Chanukah with music, masks, storytelling, and audience participation. A lively Klezmer band, featuring Brian Bender and David Tasgal, accompanied by James Kost, will perform with a musical adaptation of Isaac Bashevis Singer’s "A Parakeet Named Dreidel" by Leslie Elias and pianist/composer Donald Sosin.
Advance reservations suggested, workshop space is limited.
Tickets: $3/children (members), $5/children (non-members); $6/adults (members), $8/adults (non-members); $20 (maximum price for member families), $25 (maximum price for non-member families).
Ticket includes admission to workshops and afternoon performance.
