Song of the Lodz GhettoSong of the Lodz Ghetto, a documentary by David Kaufman, is a moving account of the history of Poland’s “first and last” Jewish ghetto. The film is based on a haunting program of songs performed by the renowned Jewish music group, Brave Old World. Many of those songs were written by the ghetto’s beloved street singer, Yankele Herszkowicz, whose life story is recounted in the film through interviews and historic photographs.
